Our Beloved Prophet, We'll Miss You

"

"If people don't believe Mormons are Christians, just have them look at this picture of Sister Marjorie Hinckley." I so agree.

Now these two sweethearts are together again. I'm so sad to know he's gone from this life, but happy to know he's been reunited with his wife and other family who passed before him. I am so grateful to have lived during his time as prophet and to have been influenced for good because of him. I know he was a true prophet of God and that he loved us all dearly. I am so grateful for his tireless service and for his awesome sense of humore. I was so impressed by his ability to say things so matter-of-factly and to be bold when talking about our church. I wish I could be more like that. Thank you President Hinckley for being the mountain of a man that you were, and thank you for setting such a great example of how to dedicate your life to serving the Lord.

I would have to agree with what you said. I can't believe he's gone, but he is in a better place and with his sweetheart.

As much as I dearly love President Hinckley, the quote you have attributed to President Packer is merely a "mormon folklore" story. See below:

President Packer Refutes "Generals" Rumor — LDS Church News / Additional story
A quotation has been widely circulated, attributed to President Boyd K. Packer or other General Authorities, stating that today's youth were "generals in the war in heaven" and that upon their return to heaven "all in attendance will bow in [their] presence." In a statement published in the 28 April 2001 edition of the LDS Church News, an approved publication of the Church, President Packer said, "I did not make that statement. I do not believe that statement. None of the Brethren made that statement." President Packer sent a letter to mission presidents requesting their help in clarifying this matter among missionaries and members.

The First Presidency sent a letter to all Stake Presidents and Bishops, which our Bishop read to us in Ward Council yesterday, STRONGLY repudiating that quote, and repeating that neither President Packer, nor President Monson, had ever said such a thing, and that it is not church doctrine. Priesthood leaders have been instructed to use "all means" available to make sure it is not taught or repeated.

Please remove it from your blog.
